Growing Up

I was born and raised in New York. I lived with my mom, dad, two brothers and sister in a red house on a busy street in Merrick, Long Island.

My dad was a police officer and he was very, very funny. Even though being a police officer is dangerous work, my dad always had a hilarious story to tell. After listening to my father's wild tales, I decided I wanted to be a police officer or an FBI agent.

Change of Plans

I am not brave enough to be a police officer or an FBI agent! I was brave enough to work in publishing (which I did for a few years). Then I decided to go to law school. You do not have to be very brave to go to law school, either (although it can be a little scary!)

My father then got very, very sick and passed away. I was too sad to go to law school. A few weeks later, I woke up in the middle of the night and I wrote Click Clack Moo, Cows that Type. It made me laugh, just like my father used to do.

Finally...

I went to law school and got a job! Then Click Clack Moo was published. The book was in all the stores. It even won an award!

Right Now

I live in New York City with my husband, Andrew, and our daughter, Julia. They make me laugh as much as my father did!
